Van Cleave Architecture + Design is honored to share that Niche Book Bar, located at 1937 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Milwaukee, has been recognized with a 2026 Mayor’s Design Award in the “Vibrant Corridors” category.
The Mayor’s Design Awards recognize projects that strengthen Milwaukee’s neighborhoods through thoughtful design and meaningful community impact. The Vibrant Corridors category celebrates projects that revitalize commercial corridors by restoring or constructing buildings that activate the public realm, create new destinations and reinforce walkable neighborhood business districts.
It was a privilege to work with owner Cetonia Weston-Roy and the team of partners who helped bring this vision to life. Niche Book Bar has quickly become more than a bookstore. It is a welcoming community gathering place that contributes to the energy and vitality of Milwaukee’s Bronzeville neighborhood.
